Microsoft Office 365 is a great business email, productivity, and collaboration solution. We use it for our team to have Office 2016 — the #1 productivity suite. We purchase it through a month-to-month subscription from Rackspace.
With the Office subscription, we get Microsoft OneDrive, their online storage product, included in the bundle. Online storage (ex. OneDrive, Google Drive, and Dropbox) provide redundancy, similar to RAID on a File Server, and some include versioning. Online storage does not provide a separate secure archived copy to protect files from accidents, such as an employee deleting a wrong folder, or attacks, such as all contents of your online drive being maliciously destroyed or held for ransom by a hacker.
As a CEO, I store data in multiple locations based on different work flows with each of my teams and external business partners. I have a primary laptop that generally stays at my desk, a travel laptop that stays in my briefcase, and a smartphone that I use to both consume and create content. With my management team we use Jungle Disk (see Diagram 1 that shows the M: accounting, J: bret, N: finance, L: legal, etc. mapped drives powered by Jungle Disk). With some business partners, I use Microsoft OneDrive.
With the Jungle Disk based data storage those files also sit on my computer in my Documents share. That Documents share is setup to run as a Backup Vault on a daily basis.
