Sometimes your business will need to restore data to a new server for reasons such as hardware failure among others. Usually, the new server or hard drive on the same server will also be performing the backup of your data going forward.
The first step in this process would be logging into your Jungle Disk control panel at secure.jungledisk.com and then resetting the license key from the “licenses” page:
After resetting the license key associated with the previous server, you will then want to install the server agent software onto the server, which can be downloaded from https://www.jungledisk.com/downloads/ for the most up-to-date version. Once installed, you may also need to install the server management software if you plan to manage the restore/backup from this same machine if the management software isn’t already installed on another machine. You will then want to set the key you’ve previously reset either by writing to the “junglediskserver-license.xml” file directly between the “LicenseKey” tags or by using the “Set License Key for Jungle Disk Server Edition” application that installs with the server agent (Windows only).
Once the license key has been set, you can now connect to the new server. When connected to the new server you will first be prompted to configure a backup. You will want to choose the online disk the old server was previously connected to. You will want to choose the “Replace a Computer Backup” option to have this machine perform the backups going forward or you can alternatively choose “Restore a Computer Backup” if you wish to skip the backup configuration step and simply start a restore.
After configuring the backup, you’ll be able to restore from the previous server’s backup as intended. If you’re unfamiliar with the process, we have an article that goes over this process in its entirety.
