Behind the Scenes at Jungle Disk - Intern Edition
Hey Everyone, My name is Monty and I’ve been working as an intern at Jungle Disk this summer.
I’m a sociology major at Trinity University, so the world of data security was pretty new to me when I was getting started. Thankfully, everyone at Jungle Disk was kind enough to patiently show me the ropes; they even kept from laughing when I would ask about all those technical terms that are inherently part of the business. In any case, my role at Jungle Disk has been working with the sales and marketing team, reaching out to medical professionals, financiers, attorneys, etc. and starting a dialogue about threats to data security in our world today.
If I were to try to summarize my internship experience with Jungle Disk, I would have to say that the main focus around here has been finding room for improvement and implementing changes. The very first task I had coming into Jungle Disk was to use the product and look at ways it could be improved for a better consumer experience. We analyzed our website, looking at the way people use to see where we can make changes and improve it for current and future customers. Improvement is a huge motif here in the Jungle Disk office. Everyone, from leadership to support to sales, is consistently looking for ways to improve the Jungle Disk experience.
I enjoyed my time with Jungle Disk.
It was a learning experience. Coming in, I didn’t know anything about data security or how to sell it. As the weeks went by, though, I learned more about the industry, the company, and the product, and I eventually was able to call and connect with people who have the potential to be future Jungle Disk customers. As my internship comes to a close, I can’t help but reflect on what I’ve learned here.
Jungle Disk taught me a lot about the business world and my place in it. Selling product is hard, far harder than I had thought it was before my experience here trying to sell Jungle Disk’s product suite. Working here gave me the chance to try my hand at the role of a salesman, and it taught me that I have a long way to go. Looking back, I am grateful that Jungle Disk gave me this opportunity; looking forward, I am excited to take the skills Jungle Disk provided me with and use them in my future career.
