Jungle Disk Backup: Using Sync Folders
You’re on the go and need access to a file that you were working on for a meeting you are about to attend but the computer is back at the office. There’s no time to head back to get it! What do you do? In this situation, there may not be a work around. You might need to reschedule the meeting or even try to go over the meat of that file by memory. Overall, you feel unprepared and were thrown into a whirlwind that you were not expecting.
In the future, we have a solution for you! You can use Jungle Disk’s Sync folder option for accessing files remotely on different computers. That’s right, there is a feature that we offer that can help you accomplish this. And you know what the best part is? It’s included at no extra cost! Jungle Disk doesn’t make you upgrade to a fancy plan that will make a bigger dent in your wallet like some other backup offerings out there. This is a feature that if planned correctly, can be a huge benefit for you and/or your team. The more people involved in the Sync folders, the more you would want to consider use the feature.
Sync Folders to the Rescue
In the above scenario, the Sync folders feature is a powerful tool you can use to keep a set of data on your Network Drive and your Local Computer(s) in sync. We have helped countless customers that are using this feature and have shared stories of how it’s saved them. Just like our backups, it’s better to be safe than having wished you had this when it’s already too late. There are a couple of ways that you can set up a Sync folder and we would be happy walk you through the setup to help implement this within your organization. A few ways to setup:
- Merge the Folder with the Network Drive
- Make the Network Drive match the Folder
- Make this Folder match the Network Drive
Depending on your use case, we can help you customize and configure these settings.
To Sync or Not to Sync
“With great power comes great responsibility.” This is true for Sync folders and you will want to be careful with some of the options because they do what they say they will do. For example, if you already have items in your Network Drive but go with the option to have the Network Drive match the Sync Folder, all your files on the Network Drive will be removed. Again, this should not happen if a plan is put in place and we can help you iron out all the details of what would need to be done and how to set it up.
Sync folders can be a huge help and here is one of our support articles that includes a couple additional use cases that we’ve seen from our customers. If you are ready to start a call with one of our Technicians about Sync folders, feel free to call us at 1-888-601-0401.
