Silicon Valley Friday Interview on SXSW 2017

Hosted by John Furrier

John did an excellent job interviewing me covering all of the big ideas I came away with. Check out SiliconANGLE for more video content covering cloud, big data, AI, machine learning, security, and all the rest of the big news coming out of the tech industry.

Choose SA at SXSW

The main reason I was up at SXSW was to help my friends at Choose SA with their venue on Rainey Street including a full Smart City Day. The Rivard Report did a better job covering it than I will in an article titled, “SATX at SXSW Hosts Thousands in First Days of Conference.”

Entrepreneur’s Lounge including a sponsorship by Build Sec Foundry

During the evenings, I went over to the Entrepreneur’s Lounge for the #MeatUp. Lots of photos available through the Twitter hashtag of #Fogo10 for the 10th anniversary of this party. In addition to the trays of food, it’s a great mix of startup founders, investors, and press. I always work to find my way in and this year thanks to our neighbors from San Antonio Build Sec Foundry sponsoring I was able to join in.

SXSW Accelerator Pitch Event includes Security

SXSW Security and Privacy Startup Accelerator Panel

Cybersecurity used to be something off in the corner or only at “security industry” events. Now, it’s on the main stage even at a broad conference like SXSW. Great group of companies featured including another from San Antonio called Cyber Warrior Network.

Closing Thoughts

As I mentioned during the interview with John, each year I go to SXSW I expect it to become another conference and festival that ages with me. Ten years in, it hasn’t. I’m getting older but SXSW is still bringing in the newest, hottest, and freshest ideas. If it isn’t on your annual schedule think about adding it for next year.
