Behind the Scenes at Jungle Disk - If I Can Do It, Anyone Can
After 27.5 years of working in the hotel industry accounting department, I decided to make a career change and joined Jungle Disk as an Account Manager doing accounts receivable and payable. I have very much enjoyed my journey so far. At first, it was a culture shock having worked for a large corporation, but in a good way. The atmosphere is comfortable and there are endless opportunities from learning to work in different operating systems, making processes, setting goals and continuous education. I am constantly learning something new. There is also the flexibility to be able to work from home.
The most important thing that I have learned working for Jungle Disk is the value and importance of data security, which is something I did not know or pay attention to before. After only six months on the job, I was almost a victim of a phishing attack, which was another learning experience in it self. I didn’t even know what phishing was, but I do now! I thought phishing (fishing) was something that you do at a lake or ocean off of a boat or pier with a rod, reel and bait. For those of you who do not know what phishing is, per the Wikipedia definition, phishing is the attempt to obtain sensitive information such as usernames, passwords and credit card details (and, indirectly, money), often for malicious reasons, by disguising as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication. So, take it from me and protect your data. Don’t wait until you get phished or hacked!
Next month, I will be coming up on one year of employment and I can’t wait to see what this next year will bring. I would say change is a good thing and you should try it!
