These are some of the most common things we have found to help keep your backups running.
Make sure you are using the newest version of your backup software. Newer updates often provide improvements to reduce backup times and increase performance. You can download the newest version for Jungle Disk Cloud Backup Workgroup and Server Editions from our download page.
Set a time that you know your computer will be functional and on. Make sure that a laptop running backups is not closed or that you configure your settings to “no sleep” mode. If you normally turn your computer off at night, you can even run the backups first thing in the morning. Also, verify that your Sleep settings and hibernation is set appropriately to allow time for the backup to begin.
Breaking your backup into smaller chunks is a great way to achieve completion of your backups. This will improve backup speeds and strain on your computer. You can schedule them in different intervals during the day or overnight. An Online Disk can have multiple Backup Vaults (one per computer) and backup jobs though we do recommend that you have at most 500GB/100,000 files per Online Disk.
To avoid any conflicts during your backup, make sure that you have no other backup programs running or virus scans during this time. This will help ensure success of your backup and prevent errors. Always make sure that the proper exceptions have been added for Jungle Disk using this guide.
Turn on Backup Reporting. This is one of the best steps to verify your backups completed. This needs to be adjusted in the software to report as well as the Control Panel to send emails letting you know the success or failure of your backup. We recommend doing a daily or weekly backup email because you will receive a daily/weekly email no matter if the backup runs or not. You have the option to set the reporting to immediately but you will not receive an email if the backup didn’t run. Here is our support article cthat should help walk you through the steps.
