Product Information by Jayson Boyce Sep 27, 2018 Jungle Disk Cloud Backup: Replacing a Backup Vault Eventually everyone has to get a new computer for various reasons. When setting up your new computer to replace your old one, you’ll usually want to have this computer’s data backed up going forward. When using Jungle Disk’s encrypted backup software, the best way to do this would be to “take over” or replace the existing Backup Vault that the previous computer was backing up to. You may want to export a backup configuration beforehand, although we’ll assume the backup will be all new data replacing the old. Here is a quick guide to walk you through the process: The first step would be to choose the same online disk that the previous backup was using. Next, you will want to choose the “Replace a computer backup” option from the next step. You should see the Backup Vault name that matches the computer name of your older computer as well as the creation date and time. After clicking “Next” towards the bottom right, you can now configure the backup frequency, schedule and select the files and folders for backup. You can then proceed with the rest of the configuration, which may include mapping your Network Drives and configuring sync folders (both options for our Workgroup software). Once the configuration has been completed, you can click “Configure” in the Activity Monitor to verify the configuration of your backup. You should see that the Backup Vault name has now changed to that of the new computer. With the Backup Vault selected, you can also choose to import the backup configuration if you exported it earlier as mentioned above. Clicking “OK” in the lower right corner of the window will save any changes you’ve made here in this window. Congrats, you’ve now successfully taken over your previous Backup Vault!
