Meet Justin: TeamPassword's New Developer
Hi, my name is Justin and I am a full stack developer helping operate TeamPassword along with Sarah Jones and Brian Sierakowski at Jungle Disk! In April 2019, I graduated from a web development bootcamp called Codeup and then found the job to work as a full stack developer for TeamPassword. I am super excited to start working in the tech industry with this amazing team! I am thrilled by the ever-changing landscape of the tech industry and all of the new challenges it presents for developers. I have a fresh perspective as an artist across multiple mediums allowing me to take projects and approach them with a unique flair. Here are a few things about me:
I love development!
I love the fact that I can just come up with an idea and bring it to life with just my fingers and a keyboard. My goal is to make an impact by creating applications that make people's lives easier.
San Antonio is my home.
I have lived in San Antonio for over 13 years and I really consider this place to be my home. To be working downtown here is kind of a dream of mine and I am really excited for the future!
My story
When I was younger I was always fascinated by technology. If I wasn’t in band, dance class or playing video games I was usually doing something tech related (yes, I am a big nerd). It wasn't until later on in my life that I decided it was something I wanted to pursue as a career. I became really involved in music and dance but I knew it wasn’t something I wanted to do as a career.
After high school, I went straight into community college at Northwest Vista. I had a general idea of what I wanted to do but it wasn’t set in stone. I was in between pursuing a career as a doctor or a physical therapist, but I wanted to keep an open mind. I went to college full-time for about a year and eventually decided to take some time off to think more on it. During my time off, I spent time doing the things I loved. I joined a band, got more into dancing, spent a lot of time with my family and traveled a lot. I also found a new hobby: programming. I started learning a bit on my own here and there but I wanted more structure so I started looking into bootcamps and eventually stumbled upon Codeup.
I scheduled an appointment to checkout Codeup and absolutely loved the learning environment. I went through the recruiting process and started up just a few months later. As I was going through the course I fell more and more in love with development. After spending so much time thinking about my career and trying different things I finally found something that really resonated with me.
I am really excited to be part of the tech community here in San Antonio and can't wait to see what it becomes!
