Jungle Disk Security Practices

Data Encryption Security

Jungle Disk encrypts user data with AES-256 encryption; a government and industry standard that’s one of the most well-studied and most secure encryption algorithms available. Additionally, Jungle Disk uses a unique key for each file, and constructs the key using a HMAC file that helps protect against certain attacks. The master key is based on a password YOU choose, known only to you and not stored with Jungle Disk.

Transport Layer Security

Jungle Disk uses Extended Validation SSL/TLS Certificates from Symantec, the #1 most trusted Certificate Authority. The enhanced background check process ensures both https://www.jungledisk.com and https://secure.jungledisk.com are both protected by multiple issusing controls increasing security. The extended validation ensures that:

  1. Prove the ownership of the legal entity and the operational physical presence of website owner;
  2. Establish that the applicant is the domain name owner or has exclusive control over the domain name; and
  3. Confirm the identity and authority of the individuals requesting the certificate and requiring that documents pertaining to legal obligations are signed by an authorised officer of the legal entity and domain owner.
